Recommended tools for clearing your garden
With leaves falling and plant dying back for winter, it’s a messy time of year in the garden, so here are some suggestions of great tools to help you tidy up your garden:
One of our favourite ranges is Wolf Garten – you buy a suitable length handle and then you can interchange different tools on the end – great if you are short of storage space. Also being red, it means that you are less likely to misplace them in the garden. We have used these tools for many years and they are still going strong!
First choose your handle length:
Then add your chosen tool on the end:
Plastic rake – great for raking up lawns and borders where you don’t want to break the soil surface, particularly good for leaves
Small claw – for removing small weeds and breaking up soil surface between plants to avoid compaction and for that final smart finishing touch to your borders
For larger areas of soil that requires clearing out, the larger claw is great to break up the surface and pull out weeds (can sometimes save you a lot of time digging if depth is not needed)
Brooms
Soft bristles for dry sweeping
>
Harder bristle broom for wet sweeping
Grabber – save your back when picking up all those leaves you’ve swept up with this great grabber – no more bending down over and over again!
Pruning

Secateurs – Always buy the best secateurs you can afford – we find Felco the best range, as they are best quality and last for years
You can choose from standard size secateurs or compact sized secateurs for smaller hands
Loppers
Telescopic loppers are great for those harder-to-reach jobs or when you need a bit more leverage
Pruning saws for those larger branches when the lopper won’t cut it! Go for a large-ish blade to give the maximum flexibility, this one comes with a handy sheath to protect the blade when not in use
A small folding saw is handy for cutting in a tight space
Shears – great for hedges, topiary, dead heading lavender etc.
